报告摘要:
Molecular robots are artifacts consist of sensors, actuators and intelligence made of bio-molecules. In order to promote this, “molecularrobotics” has been selected as one of the prestigious Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, Japan, for the fiscal years 2012-2016. The program started in July, 2012, and is organized by 4 principal investigators, 25 co-investigators, and 27 selected researchers including biochemists, biophysicists, mechanical engineers and computer scientists, to name but a few. Two types of molecular robots, anamoeba-type robot and aslime-type robot, have been extensively studied so far.Bio-imaging plays an important role for the investigation of video-data observed in bio-chemical experiments, such as micro-tubule gliding assay in which microtubules are driven by motor proteins attached on a glass surface when adenosine triphosphates (ATPs) are dosed. A real-time live-controlled 3D simulator has been developed for the reproduction of self-organized motion dynamics of microtubules. The simulator enables real-time visualization thanks to Graphical Processing Units (GPUs) in both rendering and high performance computing.
