Abstract: The cooperative control of multi-agent systems includes but is not limited to such problems as consensus/synchronization, formation, rendezvous, flocking, and swarming. These problems arise from such applications as the coordination of mobile robots, mobile sensor networks, formation of unmanned flight vehicles, etc. The past decade has witnessed a tremendous expansion on the research of multi-agent control systems. However, so far most results are limited to homogeneous linear systems without subjecting to uncertainties and external disturbances. In this talk, we will first point out the connection between several cooperative control problems of multi-agent systems and the classical output regulation problem. Then we will present a unified framework for handling several cooperative control problems for nonlinear multi-agent systems. The core of this framework is the establishment of the distributed observer which can be viewed as the distributed counterpart of the feedforward control approach to handling the classical output regulation problem. A direct application of this framework will lead to the solution of the cooperative output regulation problem in an uncertain multi-agent system. Moreover, this framework also contains several cooperative control problems of multi-agent systems such as consensus, synchronization, flocking, and formation as special cases.
Speaker’s Short Bio: Jie Huang is Choh-Ming Li Professor of Mechanical and Automation Engineering and Chairman of the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He served as a Science Advisor to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Honorary Advisor to Hong Kong Science Museum. His research interests include automatic control, robotics and automation, systems biology, and guidance and control of flight vehicles. He was elected CAA Fellow in 2010, IFAC Fellow in 2008, and IEEE Fellow in 2004.
He is/was associate editor, subject editor, guest editor, or editor-in-large of over 10 journals. He was Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Control Systems Society from 2005 to 2008, a member of the Board of Governors of IEEE Control Systems Society from 2006 to 2007. He studied at Fuzhou University(Diploma, 1980), Nanjing University of Science and Technology (Master, 1982), and the Johns Hopkins University (PhD, 1990), respectively.
黄捷教授中文简历:1977-1979年就读福州大学电力工程专业,1979-1982年就读南京理工大学电路与系统专业,获硕士学位并留校任教至1986年。1990年获美国约翰•霍普金斯大学自动控制专业博士学位。1991至1995年任职于美国工业界。自1995年起,任教于香港中文大学机械与自动化工程学系,现为该系系主任和卓敏机械与自动化工程学教授,及应用控制与计算实验室主任。兼任中国科技大学博士生导师,中国科学院数学与系统研究院黄捷教授海外专家核心团组带头人,哈尔滨工业大学,太阳集团1088vip,华南理工大学,厦门大学等多所大学顾问、客座, 或讲座教授。南京理工大学计划特聘教授。曾任香港特别行政区政府康乐及文化事务署科学顾问,香港科学馆名誉顾问等。研究兴趣包括控制理论及应用,机器人与自动化,系统生物学,飞行器制导与控制等。2004年当选为国际电气与电子工程师(IEEE)学会Fellow。2004年获第八届国际控制、自动化、机器人与视觉会议最佳论文奖。2006年获香港裘槎基金会高级研究成就奖。2009年当选国际控制联合会院士IFAC (Fellow)。2010年获“国家自然科学奖”二等奖。2011年当选为中国自动化学会首届会士。2012年获第九届全球智能控制与自动化会议SUPCON最佳论文奖。
黄捷教授现任或曾任逾十家国际著名控制期刊的编辑工作包括。曾任多个重要国际会议总主席、程序委员会主席,并在逾二十个重要会议做大会报告。曾任IEEE控制系统协会杰出学术演讲人,IEEE控制系统学会理事。是中国自动化学会第十届理事会荣誉理事, 中国自动化学会“关肇直奖”评奖委员会副主任。
