Abstract: Depending on specific requirements, a computing or industrial control system can be designed and implemented in different ways. Nevertheless, it can be investigated theoretically from resource scheduling and optimization perspectives. In this talk, we start with a discussion on a cloud computing scenario for quality-of-service provisioning. Then, we introduce energy-efficient data center management through meta-heuristics. After that, we further discuss smart grid control with a requirement of low-latency communication support. The talk comes with background information, theoretical insights and practical considerations of all these discussed scenarios.
